Faux Show

SCORE! While rummaging through an antique store for old glassware, I stumbled across this vintage Tissavel. (Tissavel is a classy little French company that specializes in faux fur.) They make tremendous pieces; it's like real fur minus the $$$ and red paint. 

It is in beautiful condition, with its peachy satin lining and taupe leather pleats, mmmm perfect harmony. As luck would have it, the store was going out of business (tragically), so everything was half off. It had to be mine, and $40.00 later...it was. 

The Pants that Match EVERYTHING

Two words: mustard skinnies.

I recently overheard my friend Mallory saying the words "clothing" and "purge" in the same sentence, and when I say my ears perked up a little, I mean I suddenly found myself falling over my feet screaming "GIVE THEM TO MEEEEE!" If you knew her adorable style and her shopping theology of "go big, or go home", you would act the same way.

So, through a series of quite fortunate events, my friend Abi and I ended up with twelve trash bags full of Mallory's "old clothes" which we decided to look through together with our gorgeous, now-envied friend Stephanie. 

Stephanie came wearing mustard skinnies and tried on thirty shirts wearing said mustard skinnies, never once looking as if she hadn't planned the outfit. Every color top she put on, red, purple, green, gray, white, EVERYTHING matched those pants! 

By the end of the night (after Abi repeatedly threatened to kick Stephanie out of the house for being so stinkin' cute) we came to the conclusion that mustard pants are a must-have for every pair of legs out there...starting with mine.

Leather Skirt

There's an ancient saying that says "Success comes to those who patiently shop every brick-and-mortar, online, and secondhand store on earth (or southwest Missouri) to find the perfect faux leather skirt."

For those of us who want to get in on the leather trend this fall, choose something like this with classic (and classy) shape and length. You want your look to say "chic" and "luxurious", not "sketchy-goth-motorcycle chick with a tattoo on my butt, which coincidentally, you can see because this skirt is more of an over-pleated, wide belt than a piece of clothing."

After much deliberation, or a quick glance at my remaining clothing budget this month, I decided on the skirt from Nordstrom. Added bonus: free shipping and returns. Totally worth it! It should be arriving this week, upon which I plan to introduce it to my other new friends: purple tights and black booties. Pics to follow!
